    Frequently Asked Questions
Is MedXPro's Virtual PBX the same as IP Centrex?
Yes and no. It does offer the capabilities of today's advanced IP Centrex services, since it is a VoIP-enabled PBX. This includes IVR, announcements, dial plans, extension management, voice mail, and local or long distance calling. But it also offers more advanced features such as remote extensions, call management, software phone support, on-net dialing, web-based management, and even call queuing.

Where it really differs is that it is the only communications service your business will ever need because it also provides powerful interaction services to all of your most widely used communications channels including the Internet, web, and even public instant messaging networks with powerful multimedia services.

Does it support SIP-based IP phones?
Our hosted service is a SIP-based service that connects to devices such as SIP telephones and SIP-based computer applications that automatically register to the service. We have certified Polycom, Cisco, and Uniden SIP phones but the service should also work with other manufacturers of SIP phones as well.

We also provide an integrated software phone that's built into the MedXPro desktop application. It even allows multiple SIP phones for each extension as well as call routing to cell phones and legacy phones - for true user mobility.

How hard is it to setup my SIP phone and network firewall?
I
t's not hard at all. In fact, there is very little that you need to worry about with our service. The integrated SIP software phone will almost always auto-register with the service, unlike most other SIP software phones - it's been designed to reconfigure its NAT and firewall settings whenever you restart the application.

This way you can move from one network to another without having to hand-modify the SIP settings (as others require). Our video, instant messaging, and collaboration services are also self configuring and designed to automatically work with most firewalls without any firewall reconfiguration by using ports 80 and 443 when necessary.

Why would I use MedXPro over other IP Centrex solutions?
Because it's the only unified communications service for health-care and it integrates all channels of communications including telephone, web, and instant messaging networks.

While the telephone is still the primary way people communicate, other forms of real-time communications are increasingly important to your business including instant messaging, video and web conferencing, collaboration, and even web-based interaction. We unify all of these channels of communication to allow your employees to use the right application at the right time and place.

How much does it cost?
It
depends upon the services that you need. We offer two packages - MedXPro PackOne that includes virtual PBX, IM Services, Messaging, Collaboration, and Web Contact Center. While MedXPro PackTwo also includes video conferencing. For more information, review our online pricing.

Why is it so inexpensive compared to other solutions?
Because our services platform was designed to scale to a very large subscriber base via redirection and peer-to-peer technology developed by Pandora Networks. This means that unlike older communications platforms, we are often not involved in the media processing path. This significantly reduces our cost of communications while providing high quality of service. We pass these cost savings onto you.

What is the difference between the MedXPro hosted service and the edge servers?
The Hosted Service does all of the "heavy lifting" for you, so there's no need to buy any special customer premise equipment, all you need is a good broadband connection (DSL or better). This is ideal for small businesses ranging from 1 to 100 users. While the e-series edge servers are an on-premise premise equipment solution that is very similar to the Hosted Service, except it's more cost effective for companies from 50 to 1000 users. The edge servers also provide from more control and fine tuning of the services we offer.

Can I start with the hosted service and then expand tothe edge server later?
Yes, that's very easy to do and one doesn't lose their WHS phone number or their data. All one has to do is order the right e-series appliance and notify us to move their database and dial plans to their e-series hardware platform. It takes about an hour to set up the new server with an existing WHS database.

What kind of data about my company is kept on your servers?
Our database maintains user profiles, extensions, call routing preferences, dial plans, knowledge management, and even certain personal information about your users (email addresses etc.). We also collect interaction data on people that visit your web site and engage in web communications functions with your employees.

All of this data is stored in a database that is organized in a virtual storage method, so your data is kept private from others that are using our service.

Can I try it before I buy?
Absolutely, that's the beauty of our IP communications platform. Just trial our MedXPro service for two weeks and then decide if you want to use it in your business. Then simply select the right service options.
