Frequently Asked Questions About Our Video Technology

Can MedXPro perform video conferencing?
Yes, it's designed to be a desktop video conference application using any standard PC-based camera. But keep in mind that we do not replace expensive dedicated video conferencing systems. Those products are designed for conference rooms and provide for large screens and high resolution video.

What can I use MedXPro video for?
MedXPro users can gracefully increase the level of interaction from the communications toolbar of the MedXPro Client. Want video? Just activate the video icon - there's no need to reconvene to the conference room. Worksmart video can do point-to-point and multi-way video. This makes it ideal for customer interaction, distance training, demonstrations, or just getting to know someone a little better.

What can I use MedXPro video for?
MedXPro release 1.1 video is good enough for basic "webcam" video sessions, which means that it is oriented to enhance a voice or instant messaging conversation but is not useful for clinical applications, such as remote examinations. A future release of MedXPro will incorporate a new technology based on the latest video standards and can be implemented for very high resolution.

Do I have to open firewall ports for it to work?
No, one usually should not worry about firewall issues as we use our network traversal technology on our video streams. This means that you will have immediate video services available most of the time, without any network or firewall reconfiguration.

How many people can join a video conference?
If you are using MedXPro hosted service, then you are limited to ten members pushing live video, while up to 25 can see the conference. If you use our edge server edition, then the limit is based upon your own network bandwidth.
